Parties protest fiat to remove Ambedkar portraits

Chennai: Leaders have expressed concern over a recent circular issued by the Registrar General of the Madras high court that disallows the display of portraits of B R Ambedkar in court premises across Tamil Nadu.
PMK founder Dr S Ramdoss voiced his objections to the circular, which permits only portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Thiruvalluvar in court premises.
Dr Ramdoss said that it is essential to honour the person who played a crucial role in drafting the Constitution, and thus, having photographs of B R Ambedkar should not be considered wrong.
VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan accused the circular of intentionally aiming to remove Ambedkar's photos from court buildings. VCK has announced protests across the country.
M P Rajan Kumar, president of SC wing of TNCC, sought the CM’s intervention in the matter
