Paramesh Sivamani

took over as

commander

of the Indian Coast Guard Eastern Region from Inspector General Rajan Bargotra in a ceremonial parade held at Coast Guard Air Station here on Monday.

Rajan Bargotra has been transferred as commander of the Coast Guard Region (North East).

A recipient of prestigious Tatrakshak medal for meritorious service, Sivamani has served in various sea and shore appointments in the last 29 years.

The flag officer has served in various capacities at sea, the prominent among them being commander of the Indian Coast Guard ships Avvaiyar, Vishwast and Samar.

He is a specialist in navigation and direction and holds a master’s degree in defence studies from Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.

He is an alumnus of the prestigious National Defence College, Delhi, and holds an M Phil from the Madras University in Defence and Strategic Studies.

Sivamani has also served ashore in several staff appointments, significant among them being chief staff officer (operations) of Eastern Region.
