A conservancy worker died and his wife and her brother sustained injuries when a truck hit them at Anakaputhur near Pallavaram here on Monday night.

CHENNAI: A conservancy worker died and his wife and her brother sustained injuries when a truck hit them at Anakaputhur near Pallavaram here on Monday night.
The deceased have been identified as Murugan,32. The injured are Murugan’s wife Kalaivani and her brother Kadhir, 26. All of them were conservancy workers in Pallavaram Municipality.
The accident happened when they were returning home after finishing the day’s work.

They got down from a minitruck at Anakaputhur and were waiting to cross the road. An out-of-control truck hit the minitruck first and the trio next. Murugan died on the spot.
Kalavanai has been admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital while Kadhir is undergoing treatment in Chromepet Government Hospital.
The truck driver fled the spot, leaving the vehicle behind. The Chromepet traffic investigation wing registered a case.
