It’s a woman’s world out there! Women have rights. Women have special rights. They’ve empowerment. They’ve emancipation! All the big words are associated with them. They also have beauty, cosmetics; variety in their wardrobe, the option of changing their minds... No wonder the men are feeling left out and are in need of some TLC, and as
Badava Gopi puts it, feeling like total appalams in this woman’s world! On International Men’s Day, today, just listening to these stand-ups speak has us in splits!
All a-flush
What? Today is Men’s Day aa? Men don’t get any attention these days, and neither does Men’s Day! Also, I just checked up on the internet and it also shows up World Toilet Day! They just couldn’t find any other day to dedicate to toilets.
What a combination — men and toilets — both get flushed out! And that pretty much sums up Men’s Day!

Man: Handled
Man or woman, he or she has to laugh ‘Hee hee’ and never ‘She she’. But since it’s also World Toilet Day, here’s so that-class humour… If a lady inadvertently enters a gent’s toilet, the guys who notice it would mutter an embarrassed, “It’s OK madam, you must have been pre- occupied”, and leave it at that. But if a man enters a ladies toilet by mistake, that’s his last day on earth. Some people will take a flight and come to just curse him in all languages, including body language! I hope they launch a ‘Gents Only’ lift soon because most females make a big fuss in the lift and make us feel as if we’ve stepped into their bedroom! Such disregard! I wish we launch a men’s week…

Being hu(man)
I think on this one day, all the men in the world should promise to just behave. I think too many men are being complete asses out there. We need to get some pride back. So, on a collective note, we should all just agree to be better human beings. And by that, I mean, just sit on your couch, watch television, sip on some beer and do nothing. I think that is the best thing to do on this day.

The main crunch
We celebrate things that are vanishing in this world and that’s why there is this buzz about Men’s Day, too. It is a reminder for us men that we are still alive — that our species is still enduring it all, and hasn’t gone extinct! But jokes apart, pengal dhan main dish... men are like appalam. Norrikki ottacha kooda taste kudukum!

Men should become mentally stronger
I think we need to be responsible. If you look at the lower middle class and poor families in Tamil Nadu, those keeping the hearth and home running are women. I don’t think we men have the mental stamina to cope with pressure these days. We should get mentally stronger. If we have a break-up, men are the first ones running to the bar. On the other hand, women deal with it in style. Everybody has issues, but then, I also think people are placing undue expectations on men. They think we should never cry, never get bogged down… I think we should be proud of our limitations and open up and learn to let go of things and stop being so stiff.
I am all for celebrating womanhood, because while celebrating women, we indirectly celebrate the softer and finer side of ourselves. Like Arthanareeswarar, our other half is the ‘woman’ side of us. So I think womanhood is to be celebrated even more, so that we men can say we are also celebrating.”
