Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik holds roadshow to woo businessmen from Tamil Nadu
CHENNAI: Odisha, which has cleared a proposal from the Tatas for a door-making unit in Jajpur, on Wednesday said the application was made online through the single-window clearing mechanism. “This is the 400th project made through online channels,” said chief minister Naveen Patnaik in Chennai as part of a roadshow to invite investments for the second edition of “the Make in Odisha” meet from November 11 to 15.
Nearly 250 investors participated in the road show with the chief minister meeting Murugappa Group executive chairman M M Murugappan, TAFE chairman Mallika Srinivasan and Cetex Petrochemicals managing director S Ilanahai among others. Leading businessmen including Shriram Group chairman R Thyagarajan, M A M R Muthiah of Chettinad Cements and Ramco group chief P R Venketrama Raja interacted with Odisha government officials.
Patnaik sought investments in food processing and seafood, ancillary and downstream industries in the metals sector, textiles, electronics manufacturing, chemicals, plastics & petrochemicals and tourism.
During the first edition of the Make in Odisha in 2016, investment proposals worth Rs 2 lakh crore were received, he said. “About 65% of the projects are at various stages of approval and implementation,” he said.
