CHENNAI: The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted NEET, has submitted names of 19 students from the state who opted to appear in centres located outside Tamil Nadu to the CB-CID team, which is probing the NEET impersonations which surfaced after the apprehension of K V Udit Surya, a MBBS student, on September 26.

The CB-CID police have assigned teams led by deputy superintendents of police and inspectors of police to verify each student based on the profile shared by NTA with the investigation agency. The officers have summoned students and their parents to appear before them for investigation.

A police officer said MBBS students Udit Surya, Raghul Davis, Praveen Saravanan, Mohammad Irfan and Priyanka Mynavathi have been arrested so far for engaging impersonators to write the test and help them get admissions in medical colleges. Police have summoned the students and their parents to the CB-CID office for inquiry.

Police said the list of names of the 19 students, included the arrested five students.

An investigation officer said two of those on the list were twins - a brother and a sister. The officials are also verifying the credentials of the students and their parents in the identity documents, which were enclosed along with their application while applying for NEET. Police have received information about brokers Mohammad Shafi and Vedhachalam, who have been evading arrest for almost a month now.

Special teams have been formed to arrest them. After the NEET case was transferred from
