Not invited: TTV Dhinakaran
Chennai: Hours before Union home minister Amit Shah was to arrive in Madurai, Thuglak editor and an associate of Shah, S Gurumurthy on Saturday met PMK founder S Ramadoss. The PMK leader, however, ruled out the possibility of meeting Amit Shah during his two-day visit to Tamil Nadu.Gurumurthy met Ramadoss for the second time amid reported tension within PMK regarding alliance strategies and insistence by Anbumani Ramadoss to remain party president. The hour-long meeting took place at the T Nagar residence of A K Vijay Mahesh, son of former Union minister and PMK leader A K Moorthy, sources said. BJP has been keen on getting PMK into NDA despite the Ramadoss-Anbumani tussle. Addressing reporters later, Ramadoss was non-committal about meeting Gurumurthy. "You come over to Thailapuram (his residence in Tindivanam)," was all he had to say. In April, Amit Shah met Gurumurthy at his residence, hours before AIADMK delegation, led by Edappadi K Palaniswami, finalised a poll agreement with him.During his interactions with journalists on Saturday, Ramadoss said there was no invitation from BJP yet. "It is not the time to talk about electoral alliances," he said. Ramadoss downplayed internal conflicts and expressed optimism about a resolution after meeting Gurumurthy at his Thailapuram residence in on Thursday. On possible clinching of an alliance between PMK and BJP during Amit Shah's visit, Ramadoss said, "I don't know. I don't even think about it."Asked about who would ultimately decide on alliances, Anbumani or he, the PMK founder said, "We will talk and finalise." Anbumani visited his father on Thursday, proposing retaining his post as party president, arguing that he was the preferred choice of both cadre and the general council. Ramadoss dismissed speculation about visiting his son's residence during his Chennai visit. "I will let you know later," he said, responding to a question about Anbumani being retained as PMK president. On whether the disagreement between them arose over the question of alliance with BJP or AIADMK, besides the appointment of Mukundan Parasuraman as youth wing secretary, Ramadoss said, "That's over. Let's talk about what's going to happen next… I will be in an alliance you (media) want." He dismissed concerns that the father-son disagreements would negatively impact the party's interests.Asked about Anbumani's response that he would not tolerate disrespect towards his mother following the PMK founder's allegations that his son threw a bottle at his mother, Ramadoss said, "How can I answer that?"
