CHENNAI: O Panneerselvam, who was the chief minister during his mentor

J Jayalalithaa’s hospitalisation

for 75 days and subsequent death on December 5, 2016, has told the judicial inquiry commission probing her death that he was not aware of the reasons for her hospitalisation, the nature of treatment given to her or the details of her doctors.

After dodging eight summonses from the Justice A Arumughaswamy Commission, Panneerselvam, who had originally demanded constitution of a commission to probe Jayalalithaa’s death, appeared before it on Monday and deposed. Jayalalithaa’s aide

also appeared before the commission, which is expected to wind up its proceedings in a couple of months.

According to sources, the commission posed 78 questions to Panneerselvam, and his replies to most of the questions were that he had no idea. The commission has asked Panneerselvam to appear before it again on Tuesday. On Monday morning, the commission held inquiry with Panneerselvam for more than two hours.
