CHENNAI: The
CBSE on Friday announced that it has added 23 new cities as examination centres for NEET-2017 (UG) being conducted on May 7 for admission to MBBS/BDS courses. With this, the total number of examination centres has reached 103.
The new centres have been added due to a 41.42% increase in the number of candidates registered for
NEET this year compared to last year.
In Tamil Nadu, the new centres are in
Namakkal
,
Tirunelveli
and
Vellore
in addition to the already existing
exam centres
in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, and Trichy.
As against 8,02,594 registered candidates last year, 11,35,104 candidates have registered for NEET-2017, according to a CBSE release.
Candidates can choose the city of examination from March 24 to March 27. They can log on to the NEET website -http://cbseneet.nic.in for revising their option of cities chosen earlier.
Once candidates have successfully given their choice of examination cities, the examination centres in the city will be allotted based on the total number of candidates opting for that particular examination centre.
Students who are appearing for the test can make use of the mobile app that has been developed to help them.
The test will be held in 10 languages - Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Odia and Kannada.
