In a written complaint to the police commissioner, Ilaiyaraaja said the recording studio at Prasad Digital Film Laboratories, owned by film producer L V Prasad, was allotted in 1977 by Prasad himself as a mark of respect to his work.

“The late L V Prasad earmarked a specif-ic area and a room specifically and exclusively and permitted me to possess, enjoy and utilise the property as my own without any hindrances with lock and key. I have invested a significant amount of money in the studio, kept several costly equipment, musical instruments and hand-written musical notes there. I have been using the premise for more than two decades,” the music legend stated in the complaint.

“However, the grandson of L VPrasad had in September 2019, unlawfully threatened to disconnect electricity, water and other facilities to my premises and in the time of the pandemic, some of his henchmen broke open the studio and stole articles belonging to me,” he said and sought action.
