MP urges in TN govt to enact law to protect domestic workers' rights

CHENNAI: VCK Villupuram MP D Ravikumar on Thursday urged the Tamil Nadu govt to pass legislation to protect the rights of domestic workers in the state.

He submitted a memorandum to deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin when the latter visited Villupuram district on Wednesday.

Ravikumar said there are roughly 18 lakh domestic workers in the state. He pointed out that late chief minister M Karunanidhi had constituted a welfare board for the domestic workers following his request.
