Minister opens vaccination camp

Chennai: Tamil Nadu health minister Ma Subramanian on Wednesday inaugurated a vaccine camp against measles and rubella virus in the lood-hit Chennai and its neighbouring districts.
The minister inaugurated the camp on C P Ramaswamy Road in Alwarpet. “Children aged between 9 and 15 years can use the opportunity to get the vaccines. The camp will go on till December 30,” the minister said. The government has identified 27.4 lakh people in the four districts Chennai, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur aged between 9 and 15.
“Even if kids have already got these vaccines, it is better for them to come again and get inoculated,” he said.
“The government has 2.9 lakh vaccines, and another 10 lakh is arriving from the Centre,” said Ma Subramanian. tnn
