Chennai: Water resources minister Duraimurugan on Sunday inspected the Poondi reservoir and Puzhal lake and asked officials about the present water level and inflow and outflow of water.
The minister said due to the cyclone, inflow to the Poondi reservoir from the catchment areas in and around Kaveripakkam has increased.
"The reservoir is 35 feet deep, and the water-level is at 34.67 ft. The inflow is at tghe rate of 10,460 cubic feet per second (cusecs) and discharge of water is at 10,000 cusecs. The discharged water reaches Puzhal, Chembarambakkam and Sholavaram. In Puzhal, inflow is at 643 cusecs and water at 100 cusecs is being discharged," said minister Duraimurugan.
Diary minister S M Nasser and Tiruvallur collector Alby John Varghese were also present during the visit. tnn
