Min: BJP trying to create communal riots in TN
Chennai: HR & CE minister P K Sekarbabu on Wednesday said BJP was using this issue and trying to create communal riots in Tamil Nadu.Sekarbabu said, "The BJP is trying to create division among people of Tamil Nadu on the lines of caste, religion, and language and is trying to create communal riots. This can be possible in states in the north but not in Tamil Nadu. This is Periyar's land. This is Dravidian land. Under the Dravidian model govt, our CM will curtail the communal riots with iron hands."The BJP, along with other Hindu outfits, organised protests in Madurai on Tuesday. Asked about the protest, Sekarbabu said, "Don't call them Hindu outfits. All those who protested were from the BJP. They wanted to destabilise DMK govt. It was an unwanted protest. Locals in Thiruparankundram are of the opinion that it was an unnecessary issue created by outsiders."Pointing to protests in Madurai, Sekarbabu said slogans were directed against a particular religion and BJP's H Raja made comments "in a venomous manner targeting minorities". Responding to Sekarbabu, TN BJP spokesman A N S Prasad said, "For the sake of votes of minorities, DMK govt has deserted Lord Murugan."Meanwhile, TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai said he will offer prayers at Thiruparankundram Murugan temple and Dargah.
