Chennai: A meat shop employee was beaten to death due to previous enmity in the wee hours on Wednesday.
The deceased identified as
Mohammad Azhar, 20, native of
Bihar. He was employed at a chicken shop in
Zam Bazaar for the past couple of years and he stayed in a room in Triplicane.
He had befriended another man, Kuttu, from Bihar, who was employed at a biryani shop in Royapettah.
They often met to booze during the weekends.
On Sunday, under the influence of alcohol, the duo quarrelled with each other. Later, they went to their respective rooms.
Meanwhile, Kuttu intervened with Azhar when he was walking down Nainiyappan Street and the former attacked the latter. Kuttu escaped leaving Azhar in the pool of blood and fled from the spot.
The Anna Salai police rushed to the spot and have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of IPC and launched a hunt for the absconded suspects.
The cops have detained four suspects Vijay, 22, Pappu Kumar, 22, Mahboob Alam, 40, and
Islam Khan, 35, who are the roommates of the absconded Kuttu. The police team has gone to Bihar to apprehend the absconded Kuttu.
Further investigations are on police said.
