CHENNAI: Former chief minister MG Ramachandran's manager at the Sathya Studio premises, P Padmanabhan, who was given a space in the studio premises to maintain his cattle, has been asked to vacate the place.
An order to this effect was passed by justice M Duraisamy of the Madras High Court, on a petition filed by the official executor of MGR's will M Rajendran, on Tuesday.

In his suit, Rajendran submitted that MGR in his will dated January 18, 1987, appointed him as executor of will. As per clauses in the will, the entire property -- the five-acre studio premises and 40 grounds leasehold property adjoining the campus -- came under his control after the AIADMK party suffered a split after MGR's death. During the leader's life time, Padmanabhan was given on leave and licence, some portion of the property to have some of his cattle.
Noting that the leave and licence came to an end immediately after MGR's death in December 1987, Rajendran said the licence was revoked in 1997 and Padmanabhan was asked to vacate the premises. He also filed a suit seeking the ouster of Padmanabhan. A civil court and an additional sessions court have already ruled in favour of Rajendran, he said.
Dismissing the appeal preferred by eight legal heirs of Padmanabhan, justice Duraisamy held that the suit for revocation of the leave and liecence was maintainable. It is clear that the liecencee has no interest on the property and his possession has no judicial basis. It is only an occupation, the judge said.
