Manusmriti tweets: Twitter suspends BJP leader Gayathri Raghuram’s account

CHENNAI: Twitter has suspended the account of BJP Tamil Nadu unit art and cultural wing president Gayathri Raghuram for violating rules.

Gayathri’s account (@gayathriraguram) had 3.69 lakh followers, including several senior BJP leaders. Her account was suspended Sunday morning.

“Twitter suspends accounts that violate the Twitter rules,” was found on the page.

“We will take necessary steps to retrieve her account,” party’s state IT cell president C T R Nirmal Kumar said. It would take a minimum of a week to retrieve the account.

Gayathri's account was suspended last year for her threads on caste lines in violation of Twitter rules. According to the rules, if an account engages in “abusive behaviour” such as sending threats and the same were reported, the account would be suspended.

Gayathri was not available for comment.
