VILLUPURAM: An unidentified man on Tuesday hurled mud at forest minister K Ponmudy when he visited Iruvelpattu village in Villupuram district, accusing the govt of failing to provide adequate relief and rehabilitation aid to the people affected by Cyclone Fengal.

The minister visited the village with his son and MP Gautham Sigamani, district collector C Palani, and other officials when the unidentified man hurled mud. The shirts of the minister, his son and uniforms of the police officials accompanying them were soiled.

The minister, however, was unfazed by the incident and continued to distribute relief and rehabilitation aid. Meanwhile, Hindu religious and charitable endowment minister P K Sekar Babu claimed an opposition party functionary's relative was behind the incident.

Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai took no time in criticising the govt. "This is the current state of affairs in Tamil Nadu."
