Man stabs wife over ‘infidelity’

Chennai: A man stabbed his wife in full public view near Semmencherry on Wednesday night, reportedly over suspicions about infidelity. Satheesh, 32, a resident of Semmencherry near Thoraipakkam, is married to Devi, 27, a nurse. According to police, Satheesh suspected his wife of infidelity for some time. Frequent quarrels reportedly broke out between them, and as a result of which Devi moved to her sister's house.
On Wednesday, after completing her shift at a residence in Karapakkam, Devi was walking towards the bus stop when Satheesh confronted her. An argument ensued between the two in public. As the quarrel escalated, Satheesh pulled out a knife he had concealed and slashed Devi's neck. When passers-by rushed to intervene, the accused fled. Devi was rushed to the Royapettah GH for treatment. The Kannagi Nagar police registered a case and launched a search for the accused. Satheesh was later arrested on charges of attempted murder, and remanded in judicial custody.
