KRISHNAGIRI: A man and his son died after a car rammed their motorcycle near Kaveripattinam on the Salem-Bengaluru National Highway on Sunday evening.

The deceased have been identified as K Raja, 50, of Paiyur and his son, Mahendran, 15. Raja was a farmer while Mahendran was a Class X student.

Police said the accident happened near Kaveripattinam at 8.30pm when they were returning home after visiting a tailor to alter Mahendran’s school uniform. A car, which was going to Bengaluru from Trichy, rammed their motorcycle when they attempted to cross the road.

“Both Raja and Mahendran died on the spot,” said an officer at Kaveripattinam police station.

Car driver, identified as Robert Michael, 40, of Trichy, suffered minor injuries. He was taken to the Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment, where his condition is reported to be stable.

A case was registered.
