Man jumps to death from Kathipara flyover in Chennai
CHENNAI: A 23-year-old man allegedly died by suicide by jumping off Kathipara flyover in Chennai on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Samuel Raj from Krishna Nagar, Virugambakkam. The incident was witnessed by several people who reported seeing the man walking on the flyover before he suddenly climbed onto the parapet wall and leaped to the ground below.
The observers quickly informed the police control room and the '108' ambulance service. Upon arrival, the paramedics examined Samuel Raj and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police personnel from the St. Thomas Mount police station then transported his body to the government hospital in Chromepet for an autopsy. An investigation is currently underway to determine the reasons behind the extreme step.
The incident caused traffic congestion on the flyover for about 30 minutes. Police personnel worked to ease the congestion by regulating the flow of vehicles until the situation returned to normal.
