Man, daughter die in TN road accident

NAMAKKAL: A man and his daughter died on the spot when a truck hit their motorcycle near Mohanur in Namakkal district on Monday morning.

The deceased have been identified as D Sivasubramanian, 50, of Kidaram near Kattuputhur in Trichy district, and his daughter, Srinithi, 20.

According to police, Sivasubramanian, Srinithi and his son Srikarthikeyan visited the Palani temple on Sunday. They returned to Namakkal by bus on Sunday night. After getting down at Namakkal, they were travelling to Kidaram on their two-wheeler.

Around 1am, as they approached Uzavar shandy in Mohanur, a truck coming from the opposite direction hit their two-wheeler. Sivasubramanian and Srinithi suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot while Srikarthikeyan suffered injuries, Mohanur police inspector Lakshmana Dass said.

Truck driver Saravanan, 50, of Mohanur sustained a leg fracture in the accident.

The injured were admitted to Namakkal Government Medical College and Hospital.

The Mohanur police registered a case against the truck driver.
