CHENNAI: Malayalam novelist M Mukundan inaugurated the seventh edition of Malayali Margazhi Maholsavam at Asan Memorial School in Chennai on Friday evening.

Organized by Aasrayam in collaboration with the Asan Memorial Association, the three-day festival celebrates Kerala’s rich cultural heritage through music, dance, drama, exhibitions, book releases and more.


The inaugural ceremony featured an enthralling chendamelam performance by Devaraj Marar.



A highlight was Samanvayam, showcasing over 16 traditional art forms, and a soulful musical performance by Navaneeth Unnikrishnan. Around 250 artists presented classical and folk performances, including Kathakali, Ottam Thullal, Oppana, Margamkali and Veeranatyam.

Addressing the gathering, Mukundan lauded Chennai Malayalees for hosting such a grand cultural event, calling it a cultural inspiration.
