Guru-shishya system should continue, says high court CJ

Chennai: Chief Justice of Madras high court K R Shriram said the guru-shishya system should be kept alive by the generations to come as the relationship between a teacher and a student remains sacro- sanct forever. He was speaking at an event organised by Bengaluru-based Bharatanatyam institution Aatmalaya. The memorial award named after the CJ's father, Chakyar Rajan, was bestowed upon Thottam artist Krishna Kurup. Aatmalaya's special award was conferred on mridangam player Thanjavur V Padma, while the Rajaram Shastri award was conferred on R Krishnamurthy Shastri. Jayaram Ganesh was conferred with the Melathur S Natarjan memorial award.
