CHENNAI: While film financier

G N Anbuchezhian

is still on the run fearing arrest in a case of abetment of suicide and for charging exorbitant interest, the Madras high court on Tuesday temporarily stayed further probe into the crime by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) till January 29.

Justice MS Ramesh passed the interim order on a plea moved by the financier seeking to quash the criminal charges against him.

According to Anbuchezhian, the de facto complainant, actor and producer

M Sasikumar

, has given the complaint against him with an intention to prevent him from taking any steps to recover money due to him. "Sasikumar had borrowed money for production of a film, ‘Kodiveeran.’ But he has cleverly suppressed this fact and has also failed to state that deceased Ashok Kumar had not borrowed any money from me," the petitioner said.

Denying the charge that he demanded exorbitant interest from Ashok Kumar, the petitioner said the entire averment stated to be written in the suicide note was wrong as Ashok Kumar had nothing to do with the loan and it was only Sasikumar who had actually borrowed the money.

Claiming that the FIR registered against him was a mala fide act done to devoid repayment of loan, Anbuchezhian wanted the court to quash the criminal proceedings pending in the file of the central crime branch, Chennai.

Meanwhile, another plea moved by the financier seeking anticipatory bail apprehending arrest in the case has been adjourned by another single judge as the petitioner sought time to engage a senior counsel to argue the case.
