Madhusudhanan, who had been the presidium chairman of the AIADMK since 2007, died in at a private hospital in Chennai on Wednesday, where he had been undergoing treatment for multi-organ dysfunction and sepsis.

AIADMK cadre and functionaries jostled to have a glimpse of the leader when the body was brought to Tondiarpet in the early hours of Thursday.

and Ma Subramanian visited the house in the morning and paid floral tributes to the former minister. In a rare gesture, he sat sandwiched between AIADMK leaders O Panneerselvam and Edappadi K Palaniswami for a while. He consoled them and the bereaved family members.

On Thursday, Stalin said Madhusudhanan had the affection of former chief ministers M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa and had been given significant posts by the leadership. Madhusudhanan was the voice of the poor in the AIADMK, the chief minister said.

An hour later, Sasikala came in a vehicle with an AIADMK flag and paid her last respects to the departed leader. She spent a few minutes with the family members. OPS and
