THANJAVUR: Ulaga Tamilar Peramaippu president Pazha Nedumaran on Monday claimed that LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran is alive and he will appear soon.

Addressing a press conference at Mullivaikkal Mutram in Thanjavur, Nedumaran said, "I am proud to certainly announce the good news to the Tamil people across the world that Tamil Eelam leader Prabhakharan is well. We believe that it will put an end to the rumours about him."

"Let me inform you that he (Prabhakaran) is soon going to announce a plan for the liberation of the Tamil race. All the Tamil people of the world should support him together," claimed Nedumaran.

Nedumaran, a former Congress man said he was in touch with the family members of Prabhakaran. “I reveal this as per their wish,” he said.

Nedumaran said the international environment and the uprising against the Rajapakse government in Sri Lanka had created a conducive atmosphere for Prabhakharan to show up. "He is going to announce the plans for the people of Tamil Eelam soon," said Nedumaran.

In May 2009, the Sri Lankan army had released videos of the slain LTTE leader and the government said DNA tests confirmed he is dead.
