Lord Murugan temple in Chennai gets bomb threat

CHENNAI: Following the bomb threat to the Lord Murugan temple in Vadapalani, the Bomb Detective and Disposal Squad (BDDS) officials conducted a detailed search at the temple and its premises on Monday morning. Later, they declared it a hoax call.

Police said the distress call landed at the Chennai city police control room around 12.30 am on Monday. The miscreant claimed that bombs were planted at the Murugan temple and alleged the bombs would go off soon.

Following this, the city police alerted Vadapalani police, and BDDS officials led by Sub-Inspector Mahesh Mariya went to the temple around 4 am when the temple was opened for morning prayers. The team, along with the sniffer dog Bhairava, entered the temple and conducted a thorough search all over the place.

After the cops declared it a hoax call, a case was registered to track the miscreant for making a prank call. Cops are trailing the suspect.
