Lok Sabha elections: Rs 55 lakh seized from a car in Tondiarpet

The officials led by Gnanachandran on a routine

check

stopped a vehicle on Vaidyanathan flyover. The officials checked the car and they found bundles of currency notes concealed in the trunk.

Police personnel inquired with the occupants of the car, who were were identified as David Mohan and Vishnu. During questioning, they told police that they had collected the cash from the Tasmac shops in Washermenpet, Tondiarpet and Thiruvottiyur and were taking the money to their head office to submit it. However, the duo failed to produce valid documents required. The election squad officials seized the money and handed it over to the treasury office in the city.

District collectors across the state have issued circulars inviting ex-service personnel to join them for election bandobust duty. The release said that the ex-service personnel are directed to enrol their names at the collector’s office.
