CHENNAI: Polling for Lok Sabha elections will be held in Tamil Nadu in one phase on April 19 and counting of votes will be held on June 4, chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced at a press conference in Delhi on Saturday.
Polling in Puducherry also will be held on April 19.
Important Dates- Date of issue of gazette notification: March 20
- Last date for filing nominations: March 27
- Scrutiny of nominations: March 28
- Last date for withdrawal of nominations: March 30
- Date of polling: April 19
- Counting: June 4
The model code of conduct has come into effect with the announcement of the election date.
Byelection to Vilavancode assembly constituency will also be held along with the Lok Sabha polls. The byelection was necessitated by the resignation of Congress MLA Vijayadharani S who joined BJP.
