CHENNAI: Young people took centre stage on Sunday at the fifth Swami Vivekananda Youth Leadership Awards with presentations on how they could contribute to a better society as leaders.
Organised by Ramakrishna Mission, as part of the effort to spread Vivekananda's ideals among youth, the event saw five students from arts and science colleges across the city competing.
Each of them was asked to make a presentation on challenges facing society and how they could help make it better. Madras high court chief justice Ashok Kumar Ganguly, the chief guest, urged students to take Swami Vivekananda's vision forward.
Hajra Adam of MOP Vaishnav College for Women and Dilip Shankar of Vivekananda College shared the award for their ideas on empowerment of rural women and integrating the youth.
