Kuala Lumpur-bound Turkish Airlines flight makes unscheduled landing at Chennai airport

CHENNAI: A Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Kuala Lumpur made an unscheduled landing at Chennai airport on Thursday after a woman passenger developed a medical emergency.


The flight, a B777-3F2 (ER), had crossed the coast and was flying over the Bay of Bengal when a passenger developed labour pain. The pilot diverted the flight to Chennai airport. It landed in Chennai at 1.40pm.

An airport official said the passenger was brought out and moved to hospital. "The baby was stillborn," he added.

The aircraft left for Kuala Lumpur at 4.30pm.
