Karu Nagarajan is BJP candidate for R K Nagar

Chennai: BJP on Saturday nominated party state secretary

Karu Nagarajan

for R K Nagar bypoll scheduled for December 21.

BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan announced his candidature at party headquarters after the party’s central leadership approved the nomination. “Going by our plank of being an alternative force to Dravidian parties, we are contesting in R K Nagar,” the leader said. Karu Nagarajan, the former general secretary of actor Sarathkumar’s AISMK, joined the saffron party last year in the presence of Union minister Pon Radhakrishnan. Nagarajan, a prominent face in television debates, contested in Mylapore constituency in the 2016 assembly polls.

Nagarajan said he would fulfil the aspirations of the party high-command. “The split in AIADMK and parties such as DMDK and CPI not contesting the poll will help us. I will take to the electorate the achievements of Modi government and the corrupt practices of the Dravidian parties,” Nagarajan told TOI.
