Kamal says his voice will be heard in Parliament, cites reason for being dubbed ‘a failed politician’
CHENNAI: MNM president Kamal Haasan, who took part in the 8th anniversary celebrations of his party in Chennai on Friday, said his voice would be heard in Parliament this year, indicating that he will be nominated to Rajya Sabha on a DMK ticket.
The actor had struck a deal with DMK for a Rajya Sabha nomination in the run up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. A few RS seats from Tamil Nadu will fall vacant in July this year.
Hoisting the MNM flag at the party headquarters, Kamal said he felt he had entered politics 20 years too late. His rivals and others had dubbed him “a failed politician”, he said. “I am a failed politician because I entered politics 20 years too late. If I had entered it earlier, the place and position from which I am talking would have been different,” he said.
Kamal said he liked Periyar E V Ramasamy as much as he did Gandhi. “Nobody can degrade Tamil and tell us in which language one must learn,” he said.
“I participated in the anti-Hindi movement wearing shorts, but have acted in Hindi films,” he said.
He asked party cadre to work hard for MNM's voice to be heard in the state legislative assembly from 2026.
