Kaanum Pongal: 40 tonne of waste collected from Chennai beaches
Greater Chennai Corporation’s conservancy workers cleared 15 tonne of waste from Elliot's Beach and 25 tonne of waste from Marina Beach after Kaanum Pongal on Tuesday.

Thousands of people thronged the beaches on Tuesday on the occasion of Kaanum Pongal.
On usual days, an average of three tonne of waste is generated on Elliot’s Beach while it is five tonne on Marina Beach.
