Jumbo that killed mahout moved to Pollachi camp

Chennai: Temple elephant Prerona alias Deivanai from the Subramaniya Swamy Thirukovil in Thirupparankundran in Madurai has been shifted to the Kozhikamuthi elephant camp in Pollachi inside the Anamalai Tiger Reserve.
The elephant had killed its mahout, Kalidas, in 2020 and was known for not obeying its mahout and injuring several temple employees.
For their safety, the deputy commissioner of the temple had requested the chief wildlife warden to translocate the animal to Topslip in Pollachi for six to nine months.
An amount of ₹10.5 lakh was paid to the forest department for the transportation and maintenance of the elephant at the camp.tnn
