Joblessness frustrating youth, driving them to violence: Ramchandra Guha
CHENNAI: Noted historian Ramchandra Guha on Friday said a lot of violence in India today is by those in the age group of 18-30 years who are taking out their frustration due to the lack of jobs and jobless growth in economy. He was delivering an endowment lecture at Madras Christian College.
Guha said there is a huge human resource of youth and but unfortunately there was lack of job creation.
He said while in China the economic development had gone hand in hand with job creation, the nature of India’s development had not resulted in enough job creation. This, he said, could be reason for youngsters to be driven to frustration.
Guha also shared his opinions on political democracy, securalism and cultural freedom in the light of India's journey since independence.
“There is a belief that unless everyone speaks the same language in India, they would not have faith in equality,” Guha said during his lecture.

statement is probably scripted by some Maoist leader it seems.. Joblessness is there for many decades in India.. But since late 90s joblessness is increasing in spite growing industrial investments including that of software and BPO segment is because, almost 60% of the graduates including that of Engineering are unfit for employment.. about 10 to 15% of graduates who are jobless including that of qualified ones are because, they are ''waiting'' for an appropriate job for their qualification. which means, they do not want to get trained and then earn.. straightaway, 50k Plus per month is what they are waiting for.. about 30% of the jobless youths are aspiring only for govt jobs but not prepared to appear in any recruitment examinations.. In-spite of having quota till death, if there are so many job less graduates, it is not the system, but they themselves are responsible for their situation. No learning interest, no communication skill, no flexibility, only ego and rigidness have made them rowdy elements for political parties and under ground forces like Communists and Maoists..Read allPost comment
