CHENNAI: Late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa Jayakumar on Friday floated the

, a political outfit, on the occasion of her aunt’s 69th birth anniversary and said she would contest from Dr Radhakrishnan Nagar (R K Nagar) assembly constituency when a bypoll takes place there.

Unveiling her plans at her T Nagar residence, Deepa said that she was immensely happy to embark on her political journey on the birth anniversary of Jayalalithaa .

“I will continue my work as the political heir of Amma,” she said.

Flanked by her husband Madhavan, Deepa said that she would retrieve two leaves symbol of AIADMK. “Democracy has been murdered,” she said, recalling the recent political developments in the state. “I have begun journey to retrieve the people of Tamil Nadu from these traitors.”

Deepa said she would realise the dreams of Jayalalithaa and would not leave anyone who came to her. “I will ensure that people of Tamil Nadu are taken to the growth trajectory. The goal of our outfit is to see Amma’s government is established again,” she said.

On meeting the rebel leader O Panneerselvam, Deepa said, “It was a courtesy visit. He goes on his way, and myself, on my own.”

Asked about her brother Deepak Jayakumar’s revolt against AIADMK general secretary V K Sasikala’s nephew and party general secretary TTV Dinakaran, Deepa said she suspected a political ploy. “He had an opinion on Sasikala and her family. All of a sudden, he is speaking out. There is no clarity. He wants Sasikala in the party, but not her nephew.”
