ICG conducts coastal clean-up drive in Chennai
CHENNAI: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) carried out a coastal clean-up drive and awareness campaign in Chennai on Monday.
The drive was conducted as part of ICG’s Raising Day celebrations. It was held in collaboration with Rotary clubs from RI District 3233 and coordinated by the Born to Win Research Foundation Trust.
The drive brought together ICG officers, Rotary leaders and volunteers, including school students, who worked collectively to clean the coastline and spread awareness about marine conservation.
Deputy inspector general Satish Kumar highlighted the ICG’s continuous efforts to safeguard maritime security and maintain clean and safe shores, emphasising that such community-driven initiatives enhance the impact of their mission.
Rotary International District 3233 governor Rtn. Mahaveer Bothra lauded the partnership, stating, “The Indian Coast Guard is at the forefront of protecting our waters, and Rotary is honoured to stand alongside them in this meaningful effort. This drive aligns with Rotary’s focus on environmental sustainability, peace-building and water sanitation.”
