The DMK youth wing leader hailed the resolution passed by 177 countries in the UN to recognise June 21 as the International Yoga Day.
“Public health is a very important aspect of governance,” he said in his message. “It is important for all of us to strive for a healthy mind and body, and through the practice of yoga this is possible.”
“Today yoga is globally accepted and flourishing across the world after its origin in India,” he added.
Stalin’s father and DMK chief M Karunanidhi, a known atheist, has been practising yoga and advocating it for many years.
