CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu 'Q' branch police have arrested a five-member gang involved in trafficking Sri Lankan refugees to Australia via Christmas Island. Search is on for two others.
"Police have formed a team to nab two more accused in connection with the human trafficking case," a 'Q' branch official said.
The arrested were about to set sail to Christmas Island from the coastal region of Tamil Nadu.

Police said the human traffickers decided to take 23 refugees from the eastern coastal area of Tamil Nadu through illegal ferry. The refugees, who paid more than Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh, were asked to return to their camps.
