CHENNAI: Due to the incessant rain, nine subways were closed in the city.
As the water inflow is heavy in these subways – Gengu Reddy Subway, Rangarajapuram Subway, Palavanthangal Subway, RBI Subway, and Perambur Subway – traffic was closed temporarily for vehicular movement.
Traffic police personnel are diverting the vehicles. In Perambur, the vehicles are diverted towards Perambur Loco flyover, and other vehicles are diverted towards Vyasarpadi flyover connecting Basin Bridge.
The city police have also blocked the stretches by placing barricades across the road away from these flooded subways.
