Admitting her plea, Justice M Dhandapan directed CB-CID to file its response by February 13.

D Kavitha said she is an assistant in the department of finance at the secretariat. She apprehended arrest in connection with the scam, as her three other batchmates have been arrested. Claiming to be on maternity leave, Kavitha submitted that only on January 23 she gave birth to a boy.

She further said she got appointed in government service after clearing the TNPSC Group II examination in 2017-18 in which she secured 48th rank overall and came sixth in communal ranking.

Her batchmate M Vignesh had written the examination at the same centre and secured 46th rank.

However, he was recently arrested by CB-CID for having allegedly paid money to clear the exam. Assuring she won’t tamper with any evidence, Kavitha pleaded the court to grant her bail in case of arrest.
