CHENNAI: The Madras high court has asked the state police not to arrest Tamil biweekly Nakkeeran’s editor R R Gopal in connection with the cases registered against him for an offending article published against chief minister Jayalalithaa last month.
The first bench comprising Chief Justice M Y Eqbal and Justice T S Sivagnanam, concurring with the submissions of Nakkeeran’s counsel P T Perumal on Thursday, said: “The advocate-general prays time for filing counter-affidavit.

Matter adjourned by two weeks. Since the petitioner (Gopal) has already obtained anticipatory bail in one case, he shall not be arrested in other cases arising out of the same offence allegedly committed by him.”
