Guest lecturer arrested for sexually harassing student
TIRUNELVELI: The Palayamkottai all women police arrested a guest lecturer in an aided college for sexually harassing a first-year undergraduate girl student.
The arrested guest lecturer has been identified as Bright Jewards of Maruthakulam.
Jewards allegedly sent lewd messages and made inappropriate phone calls to the student during night hours. The student informed her parents, who filed a police complaint.
Based on their complaint, Jewards was picked up for an investigation on Thursday night. The investigation revealed that Jewards had been involved in sexually inappropriate behaviour with the girl student. Since she was a minor, the police invoked the Pocso Act. He was arrested and produced before the court, which remanded him in judicial custody.
