Tamil Nadu governor invites Vijay to ‘At Home’ event

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi has invited TVK leader Vijay for the customary ‘At Home’ event hosted by him on Republic Day, sources said.

The invitation was extended to the actor as the leader of a party registered with the Election Commission.

Vijay on Friday held an interview with the party members and appointed 285 functionaries in 19 party district units. They included district secretary, joint and deputy secretary, treasurer and executive committee members.

“The next round of interviews and appointments will be made known in one or two days,” said a TVK functionary.

Functionaries were posted in the district units of Ariyalur, Ranipet, Erode, Cuddalore, Karur, Kallakurichi, Coimbatore, Salem, Thanjavur and Namakkal.

Vijay on X congratulated the appointees and exhorted the party members to extend full cooperation.

The functionaries told reporters that the actor asked them to work hard for the assembly elections.

“Our leader said he took a political plunge and floated the party based on his confidence in us,” a functionary from Cuddalore said.
