Girl’s mom gets 2 weeks to challenge CB-CID bid to let off two teachers
Villupuram: A Villupuram court granted two more weeks time to the mother of a plus-two student R Srimathi, who died under mysterious circumstances at a private school in Kallakurichi district in July last year, to register their objections on the CB-CID’s decision to drop charges against two teachers of the school. Chief judicial magistrate M Pushparani posted the case for further hearing on July 5.The CB-CID dropped the charges against mathematics teacher cum warden J Krithiga and chemistry teacher P Haripriya, who were booked along with three others in connection with the student's death. The agency made a declaration to this effect last month before the CJM while submitting a 1,200-page charge sheet in the case. The court has issued a summon to the student's mother asking whether she has any objection over dropping charges against the two teachers.The three others booked are Sakthi matriculation higher secondary school correspondent C Ravikumar, secretary R Shanthi and principal S Sivasankaran.Srimathi, a student in Sakthi matriculation higher secondary school in Kallakurichi district was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the campus on July 13. The incident sparked widespread violence in which properties of Sakthi matriculation higher secondary school and ECR international school (CBSE) run by the same management were damaged by angry mobs at Kaniyamoor in Kallakurichi district. A joint team of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and Tamil Nadu State Commission for Protection of Child Rights led by NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo, which inspected the schools and its hostels, observed some preliminary lapses in the process of investigation of the incident.
