Gayathri Raghuram quits BJP, says women are not safe under Annamalai’s leadership
CHENNAI: Actor-turned-politician Gayathri Raghuram, who was recently suspended from the BJP, quit the party on Tuesday. She blamed Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai for her exit and alleged that women are not safe in TN BJP unit.
Gayathri tweeted that her decision to quit was influenced by the unfairness in BJP. "I have taken the decision with a heavy heart to resign from TNBJP for not giving equal opportunity for an inquiry, equal rights & respect for women. Under Annamalai leadership women are not safe. I feel better to be trolled as an outsider." said Gayathri.
In November last year, Annamalai suspended Gayathri over the Suriya Siva-Daisy audio leak controversy and supporters of Annamalai started targeting Gayathri in social media over her meeting with Sabareesan, son-in-law of chief minister M K Stalin. Though Gayathri said that she had met Sabareesan at a function of a mutual friend, she was continuously targeted.
Gayathri Raghuram called Annamalai a liar. "Today I took this hasty decision and credit goes to Annamalai. Further I want to care less about Annamalai. He is cheap tactic liar and adharmic leader." said Gayathri Raghuram.
She had also threatened Annamalai of filing a police complaint against him. "I'm ready to raise a police complaint to surrender all videos and audios. And to further investigate Annamalai. Sick person. And on war room which is troubling me," Gayathri tweeted.
