CHENNAI: Gangster Binu Pappachan, whose photos of cutting a birthday cake with a 2-foot-long machete had gone viral on social media, has been absconding after he came out on bail on June 26. Since he had failed to comply with the condition to appear and sign before an investigation officer at the Mangadu police station every day, police personnel have approached the Sriperumbudur court to cancel his bail.
A police officer said, "We will first try to cancel Binu's bail order. Then, we will search for him and the person who gave surety to Binu at the time of his release."
Police said Binu was released from Puzhal prison after he obtained bail from the Sriperumbudur court, but the order reached the Mangadu police only a few days later. A police officer said, "We thought Binu would turn up on the next day. Police searched for Binu at the address he had provided, but he was not available there."
Binu, a native of
Kerala, is facing at least 28 cases including four murder cases.
