Chennai: Police have launched a hunt for the unidentified men who drove away a call taxi after attackingthe driver near Kodungaiyur on Tuesday. The driver was intercepted by a gang near Krishnamurthy Nagar when he was returning to an IT firm after dropping software engineers at Kodungaiyur.
Police said, R Anandraj, 24, a resident of Thiruvottiyur, worked as a cad driver at an IT company in Porur.
On Tuesday night, he had picked up five staffers of the company and dropped them at various places and had reached krishnamoorty Nagar in Kodungaiyur to drop the last staffer.
“After dropping the staffers, Anandraj was heading to his house. When he reached Mullai Nagar in MKB Nagar, three men intercepted the car. The men requested Anandraj to drop them at Pulianthope. Anandaraj allowed the men to board the car. Minutes after they got into the vehicle, the men allegedly abused and pushed him out of the car and escaped with the vehicle,” said an investigation officer.
A case has been registered with the Kodungaiyur police station and investigations are on.
